What is Ceramic Coating?
Before we learn what ceramic coating is, let's first look at the other forms of paint protection and enhancement.
Wax is an organic form of PPF (paint protection film) and is the most affordable. It comes in different forms like liquid, paste, and spray wax. Although waxing can leave an incredible amount of shine, it is not very durable and breaks down easily which is why it has to be applied many times a year.
Sealants, on the other hand, are synthetic and expected to last longer than your normal waxes. They don't offer the same amount of shine as a wax but will generally protect a car's paint longer.
Ceramic coatings outmatch them both by providing an extra layer of protection and shine when maintained properly.
Auto ceramic coating is a clear coating material that provides a layer of protection from the harsh elements and environment we drive in. Primarily composed of silica and titanium dioxide, these two substances together form a covalent bond that is hydrophobic in nature and forms a nano-ceramic shield above the vehicles clear coat. This liquid polymer is applied by hand and cures to form a protective layer that, when properly maintained, can be effective for several years.
Advantages of Ceramic Coating
Car ceramic coatings are designed to improve the look and texture of your vehicle's paint job. It can protect your car from elements, including harmful UV rays. Ceramic coating also helps with the following:
-
Protection from damaging oxidation, insect acids, corrosion, and contaminants
-
Hydrophobic and self-cleaning properties
-
Protection from chemical stains and etching
-
Prevention of discoloration from oils, pollutants, and other environmental impurities
-
Enhanced gloss and color depth
Ceramic coating not only protects your car's paint, but it can also be applied to your glass, wheels & calipers, plastic and trim, and your car's interior. The hydrophobic properties of the ceramic coating are especially helpful when they are applied to your windshield. Water will bead off your windshield, making it easier to see when driving in heavy rain
